Coastal Heritage Network
About CoastNET
CoastNET has been established by the Countryside Commission, English
Nature and Scottish Natural Heritage to link all those working for the
sustainable management of the UK's coastal and marine environment. Its aims
are:
- to provide a network between field staff and managers on the
UK coast;
- to improve the ways in which the coastal heritage of the UK
is managed;
- to ensure that the practical experience of coastal managers
and field staff contributes to the formulation of policy for the coastal
zone.
CoastNET is a Company registered in
England and Wales with charitable status. The Network is managed by an
independent Board of Management, and membership is free during 1996. The
activities of the network include the production of a regular bulletin;
organisation of seminars and conferences; publication of a Directory of
contacts; input to policy development and promotion of applied research. The
network is serviced by a secretariat now moved from the Manchester Metropolitan
to Bournemouth University.
