Back to list Gålå Høgfjellshotell og Hytter comprises of a 42 room hotel, 72 cabins with accommodation for between six - ten people and conference facilities. It caters for both summer and winter sports visitors. Gålå began a systematic examination of environmental activities in 1995 which formed the basis for an environmental management plan. After a two year period each area of the business was re-assessed to set new targets for 1998. The most recent progress has been to improve the waste management system at Gålå. The previous system was not considered suitable as the open waste containers were not considered aesthetically pleasing and tractors collecting the waste were a danger to children playing near the paths and elderly people. To resolve the problem Gålå has built 2 new collection stations to accommodate paper, clear glass, coloured glass, cardboard and general waste. Separation of the waste into these components fits in with the system used by the community's refuse disposal company. The total investment has been £23,000 and forms an integral part of the plan for the entire area at Gålå. Back to list |
